  1. To be eligible for the Fee Assistance Program, applicants are required to fulfill three requirements.

    • You must have a U.S.-based home address. Please note the requirements for the submission of documentation for proof of address must include applicant’s full name, applicant’s current U.S. address, all identification (such as an ID) must be current and not expired, and all documentation must be issued within the last 60 days of the date you submit your application.

    • Each household reported on your application (yours and your parents, if applicable) must have a 2024 total family income that is equal to or less than 400% of the 2024 national poverty level for that family size.

    • You must be preparing to apply to medical school. Specifically, applicants for AAMC Fee Assistance must not be currently accepted or enrolled in any medical school; have graduated from medical school; nor be preparing to apply for residency.

  2. Parental financial information is NOT required for applicants aged 26 and over.
You will not be required to submit your parental financial information if you are 26 on the day your application is submitted. Your income eligibility will only depend on your finances and your spouse (if applicable).

  3. Benefits are not retroactive.
If you are awarded fee assistance, you cannot apply your benefits to previous registrations or purchases. For example, if you register for the MCAT exam, PREview exam or purchase MCAT prep products before receiving your fee assistance benefits, you will not be reimbursed for the discounted rate. Similarly, you will not be able to use your awarded medical school designations if your AMCAS application was submitted before your Fee Assistance Program application was approved.

  4. Some medical schools waive secondary application fees for fee assistance recipients.
Schools include this information in their Medical School Admission Requirements (MSAR) profiles. Fee assistance recipients have received other benefits during their medical school application process.
