Supplemental ERAS application for the ERAS 2023 cycle

New section

For the ERAS 2023 cycle, residency programs within some specialties may request applicants to complete the supplemental ERAS application, in addition to the MyERAS application.

New section

In its second year of use, the supplemental application is designed to help students share more about themselves and assist program directors in finding applicants that fit their programs’ setting and mission. There is no cost to applicants or programs.

The AAMC is evaluating data from the first year of the supplemental application. Results will be used to determine which content sections will continue for ERAS 2023.*

Further information about the supplemental application for ERAS 2023, including the content sections and the specialties that will use it in their selection process, will be provided to applicants and medical schools in February 2022. In early spring 2022, the AAMC will also provide information about specific application content, preparation resources, and timelines for both students and programs.

*During the ERAS 2023 cycle, the AAMC will continue to conduct a concurrent research project to assess a work preferences inventory that aims to better understand the workstyles of applicants. As in the ERAS 2022 cycle, data collected from this section of the application will not be shared with program directors; these responses will be used for research purposes by AAMC staff only.
