Applicant Information
I am an international student in the U.S. under a student visa or other visa type. Am I eligible to apply for the Fee Assistance Program?

Am I eligible to apply for the Fee Assistance Program if I am currently applying for a green card, or other approved status, but have not been approved?
You are eligible for the Fee Assistance Program if you have a permanent U.S. address.
I’m separated but not legally. Which status do I select?
If you are still legally married, but living apart from your spouse, select “Separated.” This applies even if the separation is informal (not court-approved). You may need to report your spouse’s income depending on your household situation.
What’s the difference between household and family size?
- Household: The group of people whose income and financial information you report on your application. This could be just you, you and a spouse, or a parent(s) household. If two household tabs appear, each represents a separate household.
- Family size: The total number of individuals included on a tax return—yourself, your spouse (if filing jointly), and any dependents. This may differ from the people living in your home.
What status do I select if my spouse passed away?
Select “Widowed” for your marital status. If your spouse passed away after December 31 of the application year, report your marital status as it was on December 31. Include income received from any survivor benefits.
What status do I select if I was divorced before December 31?
Select “Divorced” if your divorce was finalized before December 31 of the application year. Do not include your former spouse’s income.
