Upcoming federal student aid changes taking effect July 1, 2026, will bring substantial shifts to how incoming medical students finance their education. The AAMC’s FIRST (Financial Information, Resources, Services & Tools) team, together with leaders from the medical school financial aid community, will provide an overview and update on the final regulations stemming from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and their impact on federal student loan programs and repayment plan availability. This webinar will highlight the latest information emerging from the Department of Education’s regulatory implementation process and explore potential impact on both current and prospective medical students. Discussion topics will include federal student loan programs updates, legacy provision eligibility, as well as new borrowing limits and repayment options.
