The ERAS program will begin accepting letters of recommendation through the AAMC Letter Writer Portal.

The Portal:

  • Provides a single, streamlined system for submitting and managing letters
  • Improves transparency and reduces administrative burden for letter writers
  • Supports more consistent and data-rich letter exchange

For more information, visit the ERAS for Letter Writers webpage.

Specialty-Specific Standard Letters of Evaluation and/or Recommendation

The AAMC is collaborating with several specialties to design and integrate new letters of evaluation or recommendation formats.

Updated ERAS Program Data Dashboards

The AAMC ERAS Statistics webpage has been transformed with new, interactive dashboards. All of the dashboards feature dynamic, interactive visualizations of residency and fellowship data; easy-to-navigate details including cross-application data, applicant and program metrics, signals and interview data; and specialty-specific views.

The dashboards are updated monthly throughout the season. Explore the ERAS Statistics webpage and watch the recording of the recent webinar entitled The Data Landscape: Continuing to Deliver Insights with the New ERAS Statistics Dashboard and Thalamus Data Analytics to learn more.

USMLE Transcript Processing Moving to FSMB

As part of a larger effort to create an improved examinee experience, the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), a co-sponsor of the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) program, will begin processing all transcript requests for the 2027 ERAS application season in June 2026.

This change streamlines the transcript request process by centralizing all USMLE transcript requests with FSMB, which already processes all other USMLE transcript requests. Examinees who wish to submit USMLE transcripts to the ERAS system must submit their requests and payment through FSMB’s USMLE portal.

In the coming weeks, the USMLE program will announce an official June start date for processing transcripts for the ERAS system. Please continue to monitor the USMLE website for program updates.

Program Signaling Information

The MyERAS application gives residency and fellowship applicants the ability to use program signals to indicate genuine interest in a program at the time of application. They are designed for programs to use as one of many data points in deciding whom to invite for interviews.

  • Applicants may assign and send signals to programs at the time of application. The number of available signals varies by specialty.
  • Specialties participating in Program Signals for the 2027 ERAS cycle are listed on the Program Signaling for the 2027 MyERAS Application Season webpage along with other pertinent details.
  • The Residency Programs Participating in Program Signaling webpage will be updated in late August 2026 to include the full list of programs participating in signaling in each specialty for the 2027 ERAS residency season.
