AMCAS® System Participating Schools

Beginning in 2023, all American Medical College Application Service® (AMCAS®) participating medical schools are invited to use the PREview exam in their admissions processes. Note not all MD-granting schools have adopted use of the PREview exam at this time. This information is provided to assist you in your research and planning, however we recommend you contact the schools you are applying to directly for information on how and when during the admissions process they are using PREview scores.

When you initiate or submit your AMCAS application, your PREview scores for exams taken since 2020 will be automatically uploaded to your AMCAS application.

Programs Requiring PREview Scores

You may submit your AMCAS application when ready, however the schools may not consider your application complete until they have received a PREview score.

  • Mercer University School of Medicine.
  • Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
  • Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine.
  • University of California, Davis, School of Medicine.

Programs Requiring a Situational Judgement Test – The PREview Score Will Satisfy this Requirement

You may submit your AMCAS application when ready, however the schools may not consider your application complete until they have received a SJT score. A PREview score will satisfy this requirement.

  • Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
  • Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Programs Using PREview Scores for Research Only

If you apply to any AMCAS schools not currently requiring or recommending the PREview exam, the schools may elect to view PREview scores at the end of the admissions cycle for research. They conduct this research to determine if and how they may incorporate the PREview exam into their holistic review of applications in a future admissions cycle.

DO-granting Medical Programs

Currently, the Des Moines University Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program is the only DO-granting school participating in the PREview program and recommends the PREview exam for all applicants. You will have the option to select this program to receive your scores when you take the exam or may notify the AAMC after your exam by submitting the Release AAMC PREview Professional Readiness Exam Scores form to askpreview@aamc.org.

Other Application Services

If you apply to any AMCAS schools not currently requiring or recommending the PREview exam, the schools may elect to view PREview scores for research. They conduct this research to determine if and how they may incorporate the PREview exam into their holistic review of applications in a future admissions cycle. The AAMC advises schools viewing PREview scores for research purposes only to do so after the admissions cycle ends, and that it is inappropriate to consider PREview scores for any other purpose during the admissions cycle.
