| Program Description: The purpose is to improve and increase access to quality health care providers in Virginia’s Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). |
| Eligible Specialties: Primary care physicians, Psychiatrists, Nurse practitioners, Physician assistants, Dentists, Registered dental hygienists, Mental health professionals, Registered nurse and Pharmacists. |
| Service Requirements: Loans are repaid in return for a minimum of two years of full-time practice of the recipient's specialty in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) in Virginia. |
| Deadline/Application Cycle: The application cycle: January 1 through March 31 of each year. |
| Amount: The maximum award for a four (4) year commitment is $140,000 |
| Additional Information: Virginia is a healthy place to live and work! Virginia's loan repayment programs are afforded to improve the recruitment and retention of primary care practitioners in Virginia HPSAs. |
