Program Information
Program Name: Rural Practice Scholarship Program

Program Description: Arkansas law authorizes the granting of educational loans and scholarships to medical students (and Alternates) for the purpose of increasing the number of physicians practicing medicine in rural communities in Arkansas.
Eligible Specialties: Family Medicine, General Internal Medicine, General Pediatrics, General Internal Pediatrics, General Ob/Gyn, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Geriatrics.
Service Requirements: Practice medicine in a qualified rural community in Arkansas. One year of service for each year of funding.
Deadline/Application Cycle: Application cycle closed.
Amount: For each year of service in a qualified community, $12,000.00 along with that year’s accrued interest is converted to a scholarship.
