| Program Description: The Kansas Bridging Plan (KBP) is a loan forgiveness program for primary care, OB-GYN, and psychiatry resident physicians created to encourage physicians to practice in Kansas upon completion of their residency training. |
| Eligible Specialties: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Medicine-Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, Child Psychiatry, Medicine-Psychiatry, OB-GYN. |
| Service Requirements: Participants receive payments during residency in exchange for a 3-year commitment to practice in a rural Kansas community. An eligible rural Kansas community is defined as any community outside of Sedgwick, Johnson, Wyandotte, Shawnee, or Douglas counties. |
| Deadline/Application Cycle: Applications are accepted September 1st through December 31st each year. |
| Amount: Participants will receive up to $10,000 in state dollars. A community match is encouraged, with at least an additional $6,000 sign-on bonus, for a combined loan of at least $26,000. |
| Additional Information: Residents must complete a one-month rural rotation during their residency program. |
