Program Information
Program Name: Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP)

Program Description: The purpose of the New Mexico Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) is to provide repayment for outstanding student loans of practicing health professionals.
Eligible Specialties: Allopathic physician, osteopathic physician, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, allied health care providers, pediatricians, optometrists, and dentists. 
Service Requirements: Health professional must make a two-year service commitment to practice full-time in a designated medical shortage area in New Mexico. 
Deadline/Application Cycle: The HPLRP application opens every year on March 15th and closes May 1st.
Amount: The maximum award is $25,000 per year for those working in a federal Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). Awards up to $35,000.00 per year are allowable. However, the award may depend on the applicants amount of student loan debt and may depend on available funding.
