Program Description: L.A. Care's Elevating the Safety Net initiative is a long-term effort to recruit high-quality primary care physicians into the Los Angeles County safety net. Each recruit could care for up to 2,000 new patients per year. The Elevating the Safety Net Provider Loan Repayment Program is one part of this initiative. |
Eligible Specialties: A primary care specialty including Family Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and primary care Psychiatry. |
Service Requirements: Must commit to providing at least 16 hours/week of direct patient primary care in a qualified practice site for at least 36 months, with an opportunity to extend for an additional two years. |
Deadline/Application Cycle: There is no deadline to apply. However, the number of awards is dependent on the number of eligible applications and availability of funding. |
Amount: Will provide loan repayments of up to $5,000 per month for 36 months with a possible opportunity to extend for an additional 2 years. |
Additional Information: Government and commercial loans obtained by the applicant for undergraduate and graduate health professions degrees qualify as eligible educational debt under this program. |
