The terms of use govern your use of the Residency Explorer tool. You must read and agree to all of the terms before accessing the site.

The Residency Explorer™ tool is an online database owned and operated by the Association of American Medical Colleges (“AAMC”). After access, the Residency Explorer online content (“Residency Explorer Material”) is made available through https://www.residencyexplorer.org/ (the “Site”).

Acceptance of Terms of Use
These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Residency Explorer Material.  In addition, the AAMC Website Terms and Conditions are incorporated herein by reference, if a conflict exists these Terms shall take precedence. If you do not accept these Terms, do not use the materials provided through the Site.

By visiting the Site, you also agree we may revise these Terms from time to time without providing notice to you. Your continued use of the Site after such revision marks your acceptance of the Terms as revised. We recommend you review these Terms regularly as they are subject to change.

Personal Information
Personal information submitted in connection with the use of the Residency Explorer Material is subject to the AAMC Privacy Statement, as it may be amended from time to time, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Permitted Use and Access
The AAMC grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferrable, limited privilege to access the Site and Residency Explorer Material. Your permitted use of the Site and Residency Explorer Material is limited solely to obtaining information on and preparing yourself to explore medical residency specialties and apply to medical residency and fellowship programs.  No other use of the Site or Residency Explorer Material is permitted under these Terms.

The Residency Explorer Material will be periodically updated, at our sole discretion, to reflect the requirements of the next year’s application cycle as well as the most recent updates available to survey and historical application data.

Permitted Use

By using the Site, you acknowledge that you are not in any way permitted, nor shall you permit any third party to, copy, reproduce, download, store, transmit, distribute, display, or otherwise use any Residency Explorer Material from the Site except as expressly allowed under these Terms or as necessary for your legitimate, personal use of the Site.

Without limiting the foregoing, you may not: (a) copy, download, or export any Residency Explorer Material from the Site, whether by automated means (such as bots, spiders, crawlers, scrapers, data‑mining tools, or similar technologies) or by manual means or processes for the purpose of creating or supplementing any database, product, or service or to compete with, replicate, substitute, or analyze the Site; (b) use any Residency Explorer Material from the Site to create, train, or improve any database, product, or service (including any artificial intelligence or machine learning system); or (c) resell, redistribute, publish, or otherwise make available any Residency Explorer Material from the Site to any third party, except as expressly authorized in writing by AAMC.

Access

Your access to the Site is limited to the forward-facing portions of the Site and Residency Explorer Material. Unauthorized access includes, but is not limited to, attempts to gain access to any portion or feature of the Site or Residency Explorer Material, or any other systems or networks connected to the Site, Residency Explorer Material, or associated server, or to any of the services offered on or through the Site or Residency Explorer Material, by hacking, password mining, application or scripts or other electronic means, or any other illegitimate means.

The AAMC reserves the right to refuse service or provide Residency Explorer Material access to any person or entity at our sole discretion.

Copyright Infringement
You may not copy, create derivative works, display, distribute, exploit for any commercial purposes, modify, publish, publicly perform, reproduce, resell, sell, or transmit any portion of the Site, Residency Explorer Material, and the products and services offered hereunder. 

The AAMC is the copyright owner of its Residency Explorer Material. The Residency Explorer Material also includes third party information, of which AAMC is using with permission. The permission granted to AAMC for use of the third party information is not transferrable or sublicensable, you must contact the third party to seek permission to use their information. 

These Terms serve as copyright notice; any infringement shall be deemed willful.  The AAMC protects its intellectual property under 17 U.S.C. Section 101 et seq. and you could be liable for statutory damages set forth in Section 504(c)(2) therein.

Failure to respect the AAMC copyright is grounds for immediate account termination and other actions as described in the “Violations of Terms and Conditions” section below. 

Consent to Solicitation
When you log into the Site, you agree that we may provide you with information and other materials regarding products, services and other offers from time to time as described in the AAMC Privacy Statement.  Solicitations will be made to the e-mail and/or street addresses and telephone numbers provided to us during the registration process or subsequently updated personal contact information.

Violations of Terms and Conditions
Violations of these Terms are subject to review and action by the AAMC, including, but not limited to, the following:

Suspension or Termination of Access

You understand that we reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Residency Explorer Material and block access to the Site by any user who violates – or who the AAMC in its sole discretion concludes may have violated – these terms or otherwise engages in conduct which the AAMC determines, in its sole discretion, is inappropriate. You understand that access to the Residency Explorer Material may be suspended or terminated with or without notice. Your access to the Residency Explorer Material may not be reinstated.

Disposition of Material

You understand and agree that, within seven (7) days of a request made by AAMC you shall destroy – and provide AAMC a certificate of destruction – any Residency Explorer Material files and all copies and derivatives, in whole or in part, whether or not combined or integrated to another data set, in any form.

Other Redress Available to the AAMC

The AAMC may, at its sole discretion, file a civil lawsuit against you for material breaches of these Terms.  In addition, the AAMC may, at its sole discretion, refer you to one or more federal, state, or local prosecuting attorneys for criminal investigation and prosecution when it has a reasonable basis to conclude that you may have committed a crime in the course of violating these Terms.
