Grading System Updates for AMCAS Verification
ATTENTION REGISTRARS: At the beginning of each year, the AMCAS verification team will email a letter to your office requesting updated grading information. Obtaining this vital data helps us verify applications properly and ensures students are represented accurately to their prospective medical schools. For questions, please email registrarletters@aamc.org.
AMCAS Grade Conversion Chart
The AMCAS program uses the Grade Conversion Chart to more accurately convert all official transcript grades to a standardized grading system. The AMCAS GPA provides medical schools with a standard way to compare each applicant’s academic record. During the verification process, the AMCAS program converts most standard undergraduate and graduate transcript grades to AMCAS grades based on conversion information provided by colleges and universities
eTranscripts for Registrars
The AMCAS program accepts official PDF eTranscripts from:
All eTranscripts must be in PDF format and conform to the Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC) PDF Attachment standard.
The AMCAS program is equipped to work with third-party vendors that provide transcript fulfillment services to send transcripts directly to the AMCAS program. If your transcript orders are managed by a third-party vendor, please contact your vendor account representative to determine whether your students’ transcripts can be sent electronically.
Transcript Issue/Print Date Requirement
The AMCAS program requires that all transcripts must be issued/printed within 14 days before the date your transcript is received. Please see the example below of an acceptable issue/print date.
AMCAS Receipt Date | Acceptable Issue/Print Date |
---|---|
May 1, 2024 | April 17, 2024, or after |
May 15, 2024 | May 1, 2024, or after |
June 5, 2024 | May 22, 2024, or after |
Please note that any transcript received by the AMCAS program that was not issued/printed within 14 days before receipt will not be used to process an application. The applicant will be notified via email and should request another transcript.
Updates for the 2025 AMCAS Application Cycle
For the 2025 AMCAS application cycle, the AMCAS program will accept official transcripts via secure email from approved school senders. To become an approved sender of emailed transcripts, contact etranscripts@aamc.org to register. Any school that was approved to email transcripts during the 2024 application cycle will not be required to go through the approval process a second time.
We will not accept emailed transcripts from schools that have not been pre-approved. Additionally, the AMCAS program will not accept any emailed transcripts from applicants or sent to etranscripts@aamc.org – this email address is intended only for communications between registrars and the AMCAS program.
For questions, please email etranscripts@aamc.org (note: this email address is for the use of school registrars only; applicants may contact us here).

Attention Applicants
The AMCAS program will not accept any emailed transcripts or requests to email transcripts from applicants. Only AMCAS-approved schools and vendors can submit transcripts to the AMCAS program.
Please contact your registrar to inquire whether they are pre-approved to send the AMCAS program emailed transcripts or if they use National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment. Requesting an electronic transcript from a school that is not approved will result in delays. Applicant inquiries may be directed here.
The AMCAS program continues to accept official paper transcripts from all institutions. Please make sure that you are using the correct AAMC and Transcript IDs to prevent any processing delays. To avoid additional transcript processing delays, please make sure that your transcript is properly matched to the right AAMC and Transcript ID.
