Review timelines vary depending on whether you are submitting a new request or an extension and your current status with MCAT® accommodations.
For the 2026 testing year, you must be approved for accommodations no later than the registration deadline associated with your testing window for most accommodations, to allow time to prepare and implement any approved accommodations.
Certain accommodations require in-person testing and must be approved at least 30 days in advance of your testing window:
- Paper exams.
- Support from a scribe or human reader.
- Use of Bluetooth enabled hearing aids while having permission to read aloud.
Since most applicants for PREview accommodations have applied for or will be applying for accommodations on the MCAT exam, the review timeline for PREview accommodations directly relates to your current MCAT accommodations application status.
Keep in Mind
- The review cycle will restart for incomplete applications that are re-submitted.
- Be mindful of the application requirements associated with your request. If these requirements are not met, your application may be considered “Incomplete” which can prolong the review process. Please note that this may prevent you from testing on your preferred test date with accommodations.
The chart below shows the review cycle that can be applied to any test date. If your accommodations are not approved in time for your preferred test date, you may still test under standard conditions. Or you may reschedule your exam if the rescheduling deadline has not passed and you pay the applicable rescheduling fee.
To receive a determination in time for your preferred exam date, please submit your application with enough time for the review cycle noted in the chart below, which is based upon your application type. Please note that examinees must be informed of their eligibility no later than the registration deadline associated with your desired testing window (for most accommodations) in order to allow time to implement any approved accommodations.
